The UVA School of Data Science is developing Scholia, a tool based on the Wikipedia platform that aims to make academic research more accessible to scientists, organizations, and the general public.
Master of Science in Data Science capstone project researchers Vaibhav Sharma, Beni Shpringer, Sung Min Yang, and Martin Bolger, along with Ph.D. students Sodiq Adewole and Erfaneh Gharavi, sought to develop new methods for collecting, generating, and labeling data to aid in the creation of educational, free-input dialogue simulations.
Researchers Navin Kasa, Andrew Dahbura, and Charishma Ravoori undertook a capstone project that addresses credit card fraud detection through a semi-supervised approach, in which clusters of account profiles are created and used for modeling classifiers.
This project will investigate the growth dynamic of bacterial biofilm with lattice light-sheet microscopy (LLSM), which is able to resolve individual cells within thick 3D biofilms in a non-invasive manner.
This project will focus on predicting the interaction sites of host-host proteins using deep learning, so that scientists can better understand how these proteins interact for cell development.
