About

Building services and operational support for the School of Data Science is provided through the Administration Office. This includes:

  • Space planning and use assessment
  • Mail and package distribution
  • Continuity of operations and emergency planning
  • Physical and electronic access control for all SDS-managed facilities
  • Processing service requests to facilities management and custodial services
  • Supporting enhancements to space to meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students

Wellness

Wellness was a design principle in the construction of the School of Data Science building. The space is equipped with bike parking on the main patio and covered bike parking in the Emmet-Ivy Garage, a short walk from the building.  

Each exterior private office in the building has an operable window to increase airflow, and connection to the building automation system to regulate temperature and conserve energy.  

All toilets in the building are gender neutral rooms. Additionally, the space is equipped with two showers, including one ADA accessible shower.

1919 Ivy Road is also equipped with a Wellness and Affirmation Space managed by the Office of Equity & Inclusion.  This room is envisioned as a sensory-friendly space that can be used for regulation, meditation, wellness, religious/spiritual practice, etc. For more information on this space, please connect with our Office of Equity and Inclusion.

Lactation and Family Resources

1919 Ivy Road is equipped with a dedicated lactation room. This space, room 303 on the third floor, is locked at all times with card swipe access. UVA employees who require access to this space for lactation or family space may request card access by contacting the Office Manager.

The lactation space includes two lockable stalls with access to power, working space, refrigeration, storage, a sink, and a baby-changing table.  

Resources for new and expectant parents, including breastfeeding support, can be found on the UVA Human Resources page. Please note that some services and resources are available only to UVA employees on the UVA Health plan.

Service Requests

Faculty and staff may use our Facilities Request Form (for employees only) for the following services:

  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Requesting electronic access to buildings and rooms for personnel
  • Requesting installations and other carpentry services (i.e. painting, white board installations, etc.)*
  • Non-routine housekeeping services*
  • Moving and surplus of furnishings* 

*Services are billable to the requesting unit; worktags are required

Classrooms

Classrooms are managed by the University's information technology services (ITS), classroom support division. For support with access or technology issues in these spaces, please contact classroom support. For questions about SDS class scheduling or classroom requirements, please contact the SDS Registrar. Classroom reservations are managed centrally by UVA via 25Live (University login required).
