A: BS; BA Psychology, Appalachian State University, 2015

A: MA Experimental Psychology, Appalachian State University, 2017; MA Cognitive Psychology- Quantitative Concentration, University of Virginia, 2019

Q: If you worked full-time until recently, or are working now, please share your most recent/current employer and title?

A: University of Virginia, PhD Candidate in Cognitive Psychology- Quantitative Concentration

Q: What are you particularly interested in learning about data science?

A: One of my particular goals for the upcoming year is to learn how to apply neural network models to human brain data. Psychology and neuroscience research has a lot to gain through integration of modern artificial intelligence as a theoretical and analytic tool. 

Q: How do you hope to use data science in a future career?

A: I plan on pursuing a career in data science after I finish my PhD. My current interests in applied data science are face recognition and computer vision. I would like to focus on leveraging techniques to make this class of algorithms more interpretable and more fair. 

Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?

A: I love music. I have been playing drums for around 15 years, and I am an aspiring keyboard player (with so much left to learn!).
