A Deep Dive into Neuroscience

New research published in April shows how autism spectrum disorders manifest differently in boys and girls. Combining genetic research with brain imaging, researchers including UVA’s Kevin Pelphrey and John D. Van Horn identified differences in genes and the “genetic burden” of the condition in boys and girls, and ways the brains of girls with autism spectrum disorders respond differently to social cues than girls without autism.

Caitlin Wylie's Open-Access Book Examines the Intersection of Fossil Preparation and Data Collection

Caitlin Wylie, Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering and Applied Science and who holds a courtesy appointment with SDS, approached the study of dinosaur fossils with data in mind, as outlined in her book Preparing Dinosaurs. She found data collection varied widely depending on the person, country, and custom.
