The University of Virginia's Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offers several online learning programs throughout the year. In addition, the School of Data Science partners with the Office for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights, UVA Acts, the LGBTQ Center, the Center for Teaching Excellence, and others to provide relevant, timely, and evidence-based training for our staff, faculty, and students.
The School of Data Science is in the process of formalizing a reward-based training program to support our culture of inclusion. During the 2023-2024 academic year, the School's Inclusive Excellence Team will be piloting an Inclusive Excellence Badge program with multiple options and levels of engagement, initially for staff and faculty. This program is in alignment with the School’s values and Inclusive Excellence Plan.
The School of Data Science maintains a robust rotation of both internal and external events to promote connection, information-sharing, and belonging. As a new and growing organization, we are working closely with the UVA Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and UVA Human Resources to identify and launch an annual engagement and belonging survey. This survey will be supplemented by regular pulse surveys to assess our internal climate and culture and respond with meaningful improvements.
