Shafkat is a data scientist, with expertise in deep learning and machine learning. He applies deep learning and machine learning to solve real-life medical imaging problems. Shafkat’s educational background is in electrical and computer engineering.
Shafkat joined the school of data science as a postdoctoral research associate in 2022. He previously worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His research interests include deep learning, machine learning, medical imaging, image segmentation, and object detection. Currently he is developing vision transformer and semi-supervised approach for neuronal morphology detection and segmentation.
Shafkat holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Iowa and a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh.
