Women in Data Science Charlottesville Logo

WIDS Charlottesville is an independent annual event organized by the UVA School of Data Science to coincide with the annual Global Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference held at Stanford University and an estimated 150+ locations worldwide. All genders are invited to attend WiDS regional events, which feature outstanding women doing outstanding work. 

Women in data science across a variety of industries join the School of Data Science in presenting their work, research, and advice being a woman in the field. Past speakers have included Mutale Nkonde, Founding Executive Director, AI for the People, , Christine Borgman, Distinguished Research Professor in Information Studies, and Director of the Center for Knowledge Infrastructures at UCLA, and Vicki Schmanske, Intelligence Group President at Leidos. Panel topics range from AI in the public sector to data linking.
