UVA Conference on Leadership in Business, Data, and Intelligence

Digital technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, 3D printing, blockchain, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and the Internet of Things (IoT) are disrupting markets and changing the ways in which we conduct business and live our lives. They promise to improve efficiencies, facilitate customer engagement, and even lead to breakthroughs in scientific and medical research. Yet, they also have the potential to worsen social inequities, spread misinformation, and expose sensitive data if not carefully and strategically deployed.

The explosive growth of data and technology presents both challenges and opportunities to leaders across all industries. Business executives around the world are faced with the daunting task of not only leading their organizations though this digitation transformation but also, developing effective strategies that leverage new technologies to gain a competitive advantage. Civic leaders are faced with mountains of information and subjected to perceptions that spread with lightning speed among constituents, regardless of their accuracy.  Lawmakers apply new tools that increase fairness but may have unintended consequences and require the navigation of laws and regulations that are wholly inadequate in today’s technology-intensive world.

UVA’s Darden School of Business and School of Data Science are co-hosting the UVA Conference on Leadership in Business, Data, and Intelligence, a one-day event bringing together academics, business executives, data scientists, and policymakers to discuss the latest in digital tech development and strategies for responsibly incorporating these tools into company operations.

Attendees: The conference is intended for executive-level business leaders and policymakers working on digital transformation activities within their organization. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as a networking reception immediately following the conference.

Tickets are $50 for general admission and $25 for UVA students and alumni.
