To navigate to the Central Grounds Parking Garage by GPS, use the following address: 400 Emmet Street South, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

From I-64
Get off at exit 118B for the Route 29/250 Bypass. Go approximately 2 miles and take the off ramp for Route 250 East Business (Ivy Road). Turn right off the exit ramp and follow Ivy Road. At the fourth traffic light, turn right on Route 29 Business/Emmet Street. Continue 1/2 block. Turn left into the University of Virginia Central Grounds Parking Garage (hourly fees), which is directly in front of Newcomb Hall.

From I-66 via US Route 29 South
Take I-66 from Northern Virginia past Manassas. Take the exit marked "Route 29 South - Gainesville." Proceed to Charlottesville, where Route 29 becomes Emmet Street. Pass University Hall basketball arena on the right. Proceed straight through the traffic light at the intersection of Route 250 Business (University Avenue/Ivy Road). Continue 1/2 block. Turn left into the University of Virginia Central Grounds Parking Garage (hourly fees), which is directly in front of Newcomb Hall.

From the North via US Route 29 South
Take US Route 29 South until you drive under the US 250 Bypass. Remain on 29 South Business (Emmet Street) and continue past the intersection with US Route 250 Business (University Avenue/Ivy Road). Continue 1/2 block. Turn left into the University of Virginia Central Grounds Parking Garage (hourly fees), which is directly in front of Newcomb Hall.

From the South via US Route 29 North
Take US Route 29 North to the US 250 East Business exit. Turn right when coming off the exit ramp onto 250 East (Ivy Road). Turn right off the exit ramp and follow Ivy Road. At the fourth traffic light, turn right on Route 29 Business/Emmet Street. Continue 1/2 block. Turn left into the University of Virginia Central Grounds Parking Garage (hourly fees), which is directly in front of Newcomb Hall.

University of Virginia

Central Grounds begins at the corner of Route 29 (Emmet Street) and Ivy Road/University Avenue. The Rotunda, the heart of the University, is two blocks east of the above intersection on University Avenue. Alderman and Clemons libraries are across McCormick Street.

To reach UVA Medical Center from Route 29/Emmet Street, go east on University Avenue past the Rotunda and under the railroad bridge, and turn right on Jefferson Park Avenue. Or continue on Emmet Street past Ivy Road, veer left with the road as it forks and turns into Jefferson Park Avenue, then make a right into the hospital.

Just one block east of the Rotunda, the Corner is the restaurant and shopping strip along University Avenue that serves Central Grounds.

UVA’s blue-and-orange buses are free to University students, faculty and staff. From a bus stop directly in front of the Law School, you can catch a bus every 10 minutes to Central Grounds and the surrounding areas. See the website for routes and schedules.

Buses serve many parts of Charlottesville Monday-Saturday. Some evening service. UVA students, faculty and staff may ride free by showing a valid UVA ID card. The fare-free program does not apply to the football shuttle service or to CTS LINK service.

The Corner 
Located along University Avenue across from the Rotunda and is a favorite among students.

Downtown Mall 
 The Downtown Mall is a vibrant collection of more than 120 shops and 30 restaurants housed in historic buildings along the city's Main Street. Enjoy dining al fresco at a number of fine restaurants or shop at a number of unique boutiques. Charlottesville's community showpiece, the pedestrian outdoor mall is a popular place to hang out and people-watch outside the University. Numerous restaurants, bookstores and coffee shops line the mall, and it hosts Fridays After Five, with the City Market on Saturdays housed in the Water Street parking lot.

The Shops at Stonefield
Businesses include Trader Joe's, Costco, Burtons Grill, William Sonoma, Whimsies children's store and Pottery Barn. This mixed-use development includes residential living.

5th Street Station
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Dick's Sporting Goods, Hair Cuttery, Field & Stream, GNC, Great Clips, Planet Fitness, Wegmans, Jersey Mike’s, Krispy Kreme and more.
