Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville/Albemarle

Helps youths ages 6-18 with their homework and hosts many educational, social and recreational programs. Volunteer tutors are needed.

This summer camp serves chronically ill children ages 7-17, providing a rustic outdoors experience with 24-hour medical care. Volunteers are needed for gardening, landscaping, maintenance, clearing, construction, clerical chores and general labor.

Computers4Kids

Computers4Kids is a nonprofit after-school technology mentoring program for underserved middle and high school youth. Mentors should have basic computer knowledge and be able to spend one and a half hours per week volunteering. To join, visit www.c4kclubhouse.org and fill out the volunteer application.

The YMCA offers aerobics for adults and seniors, martial arts for adults and children, and basketball for children. Fees vary by activity. The Y offers a full-time care center for preschool-age children as well as a summer camp and a ski program for youth. It also administers the city swim team. Call for details.
