Eric Field is the Director of Information Technology and a Lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Architecture. He is a Lecturer by Courtesy at the School of Data Science and specializes in data visualization. Field’s areas of research interest include performance-driven and environmental design modeling (buildings and cities), data visualization, information design, geo and spatial data analytics.
Field has worked at the School of Architecture for over 26 years as an Architect, Information Technology Specialist, Lecturer, and Director of the Insight Lab, which develops new and emerging technologies in design, visualization, and information systems. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on data visualization, environmental systems, and parametric energy design.
Field holds a M.A. in Architecture from the University of Virginia and a B.S. in Architectural Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
