Chenhao Yu is a Ph.D. in Data Science student at the University of Virginia. His research interests include 3D computer vision, dynamic scene understanding, multimodal learning, and embodied intelligence, with a focus on developing models that can understand people, objects, motion, and geometry from images and videos.
Yu's path to data science developed through work in robotics and computer vision, beginning with undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering, where Yu became interested in how robots could perceive and interact with the physical world. He hopes to become a researcher working on computer vision, robotics, and embodied artificial intelligence, continuing in academia or an industrial research laboratory.
Yu studied mechanical engineering as an undergraduate and holds an M.S. in Robotics from Johns Hopkins University, where he worked on medical imaging, 3D reconstruction, visual perception, and robot intelligence.
