Brian Wright serves as a Quantitative Foundation Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs at the School of Data Science at UVA. He has been teaching and developing Data Science programs since 2012 and is widely recognized as a leader and innovator in Data Science education.
In his current role, Wright led the development of UVA’s Minor and Major in Data Science. Wright is the Director of the Collaboratory for the Advancement of Data Science and Education, a wide-reaching partnership with UVA’s School of Education. Wright also oversees The Data Science Active Learning Lab, an applied research lab focused on creating effective and innovative pedological methods for Data Science education.
Prior to joining UVA in 2019, Wright developed the Masters of Data Science Program at George Washington University and co-founded their Data Science Institute. While at GW, he also helped develop the creation of a joint Ph.D. in Education and Data Science.
Prior to moving to academia Wright worked for the Department of Defense both as a federal employee and Management Consultant.
Wright holds degrees from the University of Tennessee, including a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, an MPA in Public Administration, and a B.S. in Economics.
