We are excited to announce your Spring 2021 online MSDS student council! As an organization in its early days, we look forward to hearing from all of you on what your student council can do for you and the program. We expect our mission to evolve and grow but at this time, see it as three-fold:
Connect across cohorts
Develop consistency and collaboration across cohorts to ensure a high academic standard of learning is met year over year. We will aim to foster an environment where lessons learned are passed down through each cohort and additionally, expand and grow a student network of experienced professionals striving for excellence in data science.
Connect with the broader UVA and professional communities
Increase the presence and visibility of the student council and ultimately the online program with students and faculty on grounds, the broader UVA and alumni network, as well as Charlottesville and partner communities. As a newer program, it is important to ensure prospective collaborators and employers understand the rigorous curriculum and discipline the program offers.
Support the joint mission of students and the School of Data Science
Advocate for online students with the program faculty and staff to evolve the curriculum and ensure two-way communication flow and feedback.
