President Jim Ryan Tours New Home of Data Science
President Jim Ryan and members of his office toured the construction site of the School of Data Science's future home, set to open in spring 2024 and currently on schedule. He was joined by leaders of the School of Data Science and Gilbane project managers, as well as University and Hopkins architects, to walk through the building's four stories. Exterior walls and windows are complete and interior drywall marks out designated space for classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms.
The new building will stand at a vital intersection for the University of Virginia at the Emmet Street and Ivy Road intersection, connecting Central Grounds with the athletics complex and fields, the Law School, and the Darden School of Business. A vibrant hub built to foster collaboration, the building will bring people together from across the University, Charlottesville, and beyond. This is the first building of the new Discovery Corridor that will soon be joined by a hotel and conference center, the Karsh Institute of Democracy, and a new performing and visual arts center.
