Ph.D. Student Navya Annapareddy Named 2025 COVES Policy Fellow

Navya Annapareddy, a Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia School of Data Science, has been selected as a 2025 Commonwealth of Virginia Engineering and Science Policy Fellow. The COVES Fellowship is a highly sought-after program designed to build scientific and technical expertise within state government, private industry, and nonprofit organizations across the Commonwealth by preparing young scientists and engineers to serve as knowledgeable and impactful advisors on public policy.
Annapareddy is working toward becoming a "triple Hoo," as she obtained her B.S. in Systems Engineering from UVA in 2021 before earning her Master's in Data Science from the School in 2022. She developed a love of robotics in high school and then completed her senior capstone in computer vision models for autonomous cars. Computer vision continues to be an area of research focus for her, along with health care and differential geometry. The COVES Fellowship will provide Annapareddy with financial support, mentoring, and firsthand exposure to how policy is made at the state level.
