Doctoral Candidate Kevin Lin Honored at ICBRA 2023
The University of Virginia's School of Data Science is pleased to announce that Kevin Lin, a Ph.D. in data science candidate, received the "Best Presentation Award" at the 10th International Conference on Bioinformatics Research and Applications, known as ICBRA 2023.
Lin presented a paper he co-authored with advisor Don Brown and UVA collaborators -- titled "Uncertainty Quantification for Eosinophil Segmentation" -- at the conference in Barcelona, Spain. He beat out approximately 40 other doctoral student presenters from around the world for the award.
ICBRA 2023 was held Sept. 22-24 and serves as a showcase for experts to share their insights on bioinformatics.
Lin, who is sponsored by the U.S. Air Force, received an M.S. in applied mathematics from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2019 and a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Washington in 2017.
