Raven Society Welcomes Three New Members from the School of Data Science
The Raven Society, the University of Virginia’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, has inducted three new members from the School of Data Science. The Society recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship, leadership and service to the University community. The new data science inductees are:
- Ryan Ermovick (B.S. in Data Science)
- Nicholas Thornton (M.S. in Data Science)
- Ethan Nelson (Ph.D. in Data Science)
Navya Annapareddy, president of the Raven Society and a Ph.D. in Data Science candidate, said the honor represents one of the highest forms of recognition a UVA student can receive. She noted that Raven Society members are selected by peers and faculty for both academic achievement and meaningful service to the University. "As the first class of inductees to represent all programs of study at the School of Data Science," said Annapareddy, "I’m extremely excited to see our membership represent not only individual excellence but the growing excellence of the School at large.”
The new inductees each reflect the School’s mission to cultivate data-literate leaders who combine deep analytical skills with a commitment to service and the University’s ideals. Their membership in the Raven Society underscores SDS’s growing presence within UVA’s tradition of student self-governance and leadership.
Founded in 1904, the Raven Society is the University of Virginia’s oldest and most prestigious student honor society. It elects members who have had a meaningful impact on university life through scholarship, leadership and service.
